Not all appliances need testing every year. For example, a static computer will usually only need testing every four years, a kettle in your kitchen will need to be tested every year and 110v construction equipment may need testing every 6 months. The vast majority of PAT testing providers will offer to test everything every twelve months and as a result, you may be overcharged and may not comply.

RPA Safety Services can provide a sensible management system for your business to ensure you are not over testing and therefore not paying unnecessarily. It also means you comply with the law!

We base our program on risk assessment as required by the Management Regulations. Our first year's program will test all your portable appliances, and at this stage we will conduct a risk assessment on each appliance and recommend the frequency of testing for that appliance. Each appliance will be recorded on a register that in addition to giving its test results will also indicate when it should be retested, this will also be noted on the appliance label. In subsequent years we will only test those items that have been identified as requiring retesting that year.

This method of testing could reduce your testing costs by 50% or more and still ensure that you comply with all aspects of the HSE guidance on the testing of portable appliances.

For this service we charge £1 per appliance, which will include minor repairs and adjustments, with a minimal call out charge dependant on your location.
